WHAT DID CHINA DO IN CAMBODIA
DURING DEMOCRATIC KAMPUCHEA OF POL POT'S TIME?

The initiative will achieve sustainability by serving as a bridge to an online dialogue on foreign, and particularly People’s Republic of China, investment news and policies in Cambodia.  There is no question that social media influences Cambodia’s political landscape.  Documentation Center of Cambodia will use its work in studying the People’s Republic of China role in Cambodia as an introduction to larger dialogue on foreign influence in Cambodia and the positive and negative impacts it can have on the average Cambodian citizen. Cambodian citizens are aware that there are many foreign agendas impacting national and regional policies, and to some extent they

are also quite aware of the influence of foreign actors, particularly corporations, in local community projects. However, with the civil society contracting and many news organizations shrinking in their coverage on national and local controversies, there has been a diminishing dialogue on how foreign interests, and particularly the People’s Republic of China, are playing a role in local, regional, and national politics. This initiative will achieve sustainability by leveraging its research to shift the conversation on the People’s Republic of China support of the Khmer Rouge to contemporary news and policies.
